GENERAL INFORMATION

Personal clothing
Long sleeve t-shirt, shorts and trousers, warm socks, comfortable shore shoes, toiletries including towel, woolly hat, sun cream, sun glasses and soft soled deck shoes. Please bring everything in a soft bag (no suitcases). If you are spending the night on a yacht, please bring a sleeping bag and pillow. As a general rule, you should bring clothing that is suitable for both hot and cooler/windy weather.

Please remember that sailing is and activity sport and there is a chance that your clothing may get wet or damaged, please do not wear your best clothes on the yachts!!

If you have your own wet weather clothing please do bring this, alternativly wet weather clothing is available by speaking with the regatta manager. Waterproof boots are not available for hire but can be purchased in the chandlery.

If crew members can refrain from wearing high heels onboard we would be most grateful, as this damages the yacht and they are also unsafe.

N.B – 80% of UV rays are reflected by water. Therefore, we recommend a sun cream of at least factor 25.  If you burn easily you should consider a higher factor. We also recommend good quality sunglasses that block out all UV rays. A sun hat is also recommended. Most importantly do not forget your Fancy Dress outfits!!!

Banks
There are two banks in Hamble Village, Barclays and Natwest. Barclays has a cash point facility,  the other nearest 24hr cash points are at the the Co-op in Hamble Village and the Tesco Store at the top of Hamble Lane. There are various cash point and banking facilities in Cowes.

Health & Safety
For your own safety we strongly recommend that all non-swimmers wear a life jacket when on the pontoons. Furthermore, Britannia recommends that all crew members, regardless of their swimming ability, wear a life jacket whilst onboard a yacht. If conditions require it, you may be requested by your skipper to wear a lifejacket. All crew members, including skippers, are required to wear lifejackets when racing.

Britannia requires all crew members to have added their details to the Crew List, along with emergency contact information. Crew members must also complete a Health Declaration Form with all relevant medical information detailed.
